I’ve spent 44 years in the construction, renovation, and client services industry.

What special certifications do you have?

I have certifications in fire, smoke, water and contents mitigation through the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC).

How did Michaelis become the company it is today?

It took years of hard work, honesty and smart decisions. Also, it doesn’t hurt to have luck on your side every now and then.

What’s the best part of working with your Michaelis team?

We have the best professionals in the industry. On a daily basis, they make me look like the smartest man in the world because of the expertise and excellent customer service they bring to every project.

What other career paths did you consider?

I thought about working in real estate development, but I’m ultimately satisfied with what I have done and the number of people we’ve helped along the way.

Who makes up your family?

My wife Julie and I have three grown children – Rick, Sarah, and John.

What’s a fun fact about you?

Having raised three children, I love a good dad joke. Did you know there are three kinds of people in the world? Those who don’t understand math, and those who do not.

Who makes up your family?

Mother to twins (girl/boy), and I share four Golden Retrievers with my boyfriend.

What’s the best part of working at Michaelis?

I love that my opinion is valued and my efforts and work are appreciated.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I used to be a dancer at Butler University Jordan College Academy of Dance and have performed at Clowes Hall over 12 times.

What is a passion/obsession of yours?

I am very passionate about Art History. My grandmother was an art teacher and instilled the love of the arts in me at a young age.

Share the name and personality of a favorite pet you have or have had.

It’s hard to pick one! Roxie is the boss, Gracie is the sweet one, Tucker is our athlete, and Harley is our Sour Patch dog… sweet one minute, sour the next!

Working with others

Share the name and personality of a favorite pet you have or have had.

Sable, she was a chocolate lab I found when I was on a fishing trip in Kentucky. She was a puppy dumped in the woods. Found her on day one of a 7-day trip. She stuck around and by the time I was leaving she ended up going home with me. Well, she was my best buddy for 15 years. She was very active and lively without a  mean bone in her body. And of course loved to play frisbee.

Who makes up your family?

Five dogs totaling 627 pounds of canine blessings.

What’s the best part of working at Michaelis?

The depth of my position and financial security of the company is what I appreciate the most. I love the fact the company has let me grow as a professional over the 11 years.  I have watched the company grow as well, more than doubling in size.  

What’s a fun fact about you?

I love feeding critters!  Birds, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, chipmunks.  Any critter that wants to come up to my deck will be fed well.  No food goes to waste at my house.  I have way too many bird feeders around my property and I love to watch the activity.  Who knew that if you put out peanuts in a shell, they would attract big ole blue jays!  

What is a passion/obsession of yours? 

I love watching plants grow.  Spring time when life starts popping out of the ground or sprouting out of limbs is one of my favorite times.  I wouldn’t say I have a green thumb, but close…..I love watching my plants change and grow throughout the year.  I have a dedicated room in my home for my plants in the winter.  Everyone gets moved outside in late spring to enjoy the warmer seasons.  

Share the name and personality of a favorite pet you have or have had.

I have five dogs right now, so it’s hard to pick a favorite.  I love all of them and they all have a very unique personality.  Odin & Sampson, two of my Rottweilers that are litter mates couldn’t be more different!  Lady, an Anatolian Shepherd is the largest dog I have ever had, weighing in at 160lbs plus. She’s the meanest but the sweetest at the same time.  Diesel was a rescue from animal control. He’s the most mischievous and quite the escape artist, but loves me to no end. And he’s by far the most protective dog I have ever had. Lastly my oldest girl Macy, is 13 and tough as nails! She’s the smallest in the pack but the loudest and won’t be ignored!

OSHA 510, OSHA Intro to Infectious Diseases, CPR/ AED, and Asbestos Flooring Removal Specialist.

My one-year-old lab, Daphne, and myself!

What’s a fun fact about you?

I’m ambidextrous!

What is a passion/obsession of yours?

I love crafts, nature, and I’m obsessed with true crime!

Share the name and personality of a favorite pet you have or have had. 

My dog Daphne is extremely goofy, loving, and energetic! She wants to make friends with everyone she meets and will love you forever!

Who makes up your family?

I have a beautiful wife, and three boys. 

What’s the best part of working at Michaelis?

The best part about working at Michaelis is being able to help clients solve difficult and inconvenient problems quickly and efficiently while working with a team that cares deeply for each other and our clients. 

What’s a fun fact about you?

I competed in competitive robotics through middle school and high school, winning several state championships, national championship awards, and coached the world championship team in 2015.

What is a passion/obsession of yours?

I am obsessed with the Indianapolis Colts, and the NFL in general. You will find me watching most, if not all NFL games and going to many of the Colts home games.
